We moved in to a new home in January and have already loved having more space to host friends and family. Earlier this summer, I was able to host two different tea parties in our kitchen!
The first was with my college roommate, Hannah, and her three year old daughter! Hannah knew my Nana and had gone to tea with her several times, so it was very special to use her collection of tea pots, tea cups, glass dishes, and even her fancy hats! We had a traditional selection of scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts. On the menu were cinnamon chip scones, egg salad sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, peanut butter sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate pecan fudge. Fudge was always my Nana’s specialty and we actually made it for the cookie table at Hannah’s wedding in July 2017.
The second tea party was the final meeting of my bible study group. Since most in the group are coffee lovers, I went ahead and did something I’ve wanted to do for a while…a tea tasting! With five tea pots to choose from, my friends were able to just taste a spot of tea instead of committing to a whole cup or pot. The favorite flavor of the day was Chocolate Raspberry Truffle! We had egg salad sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I tried a new scone recipe that was gluten and dairy free! The lemon blueberry scones turned out great for my second time baking with gluten free flour. The other scones were my personal favorite – cranberry orange. One friend brought delicious clotted cream and another brought fresh fruit.
It was a fun morning and I look forward to hosting many more tea parties in our new home!
